Project 365: Superheroes

Last night was awesome! Picture-perfect weather and adorable family. When I asked this little guy who his favorite superheroes were he told me all about Batman and X-Men, etc. But when I saw this image, it says it all: Dad is his real superhero!

Project 365: Love is Pure

This young couple works tirelessly and joyfully as our church's youth pastors. I have them to thank for guiding my daughter through her middle school years. They are awesome! Besides being shooed away from most of Reston Town Center (apparently you are not allowed to photograph there because of security reasons), we had a great time!

Project 365: The Light that Feeds Us

If ever there were a quintessential picture of my husband it would be this one. He is often found in a dark room, face lit only by the glowing computer screen. The other night when we had no Internet and he was on the deck, in the dark, "borrowing" the neighbor's wifi, I just had to capture it!

Project 365: Day 7 & 8 - Gifts from my grandfather

My grandfather's books, including one written by him, one written by his mother, and one by his great-great grandfather.  His magnifying glass and his bible.  My favorite thing:  his Leica camera!  It is one of my prized possessions.
Here I used the magnifying glass to get the important information.  So cool!

Bella Villa in Aldie, VA

Bella Villa is the most adorable little shop in Aldie, VA. I am often in there buying little chairs or stools for props, and have become friendly with owner Rosanna Funiciello Smith. She is great at what she does - and makes everyone who walks into the shop feel right at home. The shop is in an old house, right on Route 50, and each room holds different antiques and new pieces, mixed in such a way that you want to take it all home with you. Check them out at 39478 John Mosby Hwy. in Aldie!
Cool old keys and jewelry pinned to a mannequin.
As I was taking this shot, Rosanna was talking to two customers and I noticed her reflection in the mirror and thought it was cool.

I love when you can find new uses for old things, and that's one of the things Bella Villa does best. Case in point: the wine stoppers above.
Another great benefit -- there is a wine tasting shop next door with 100s of wines under $10. So make a day of it!
Aldie is having a Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday, May 23, and Koru Photography will be there. Hope to see you all there!

Project 365: Day 5 and 6

I just bought this great fan as a prop from Bella Villa in Aldie. Then I realized it was the perfect iconic photo for "Become a Fan" on Facebook!

Love the reflection in this one!
